Cancer typically affects older adults, though it can happen at any age. Colorectal cancer occurs in the rectum. The term colorectal cancer is used to describe colon cancer, rectum cancer, or both. Both of these organs are in the lower portion of your digestive system. The colon is also known as the large intestine. The rectum is at the end of the colon.
