Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is a condition where some of the cells in one or both ovaries begin to develop abnormally and expand into cancer.
The ovaries are 2 small almond-shaped organs that are part of the female conceptive system.
In women ages 35-70, ovarian cancer is the fifth principal cause of cancer related deaths. An expected one woman in 78 will receive this cancer throughout her lifetime.
Symptoms
- There is no advanced detection test for this cancer, so all women want to be knowledgeable of the symptoms. The most generally reported signs for ovarian cancer are:
Enhanced abdominal size or steadfast abdominal bloating
Abdominal pain
Feeling full after having a small quantity
Needing to pee often or urgently
When one is diagnosed and treated in the most advanced stages, the five-year survival rate is over 90%. Due to ovarian cancer’s non-specific signs and loss of early detection tests, about 20% of all cases are found early, meaning in stage I or II.
